“I know that I am not only physically ready, but also mentally”

June 16th, 2015

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to be a vet. I called it my P4L, or in other words, Plan for Life. My P4L had a few steps; do good in school (always), get to high school and continue the trend of good grades I got going now.

But what if the coin got flipped and I were to have a baby at 16?   Because of that, most likely my grades would drop pretty bad. I would be an emotional wreck. Having a child so young, I would constantly be judged by people I barely know. Most likely, I’d have to drop out of high school and the college I have in mind would not want a drop out, nor would I have time to care about myself or my schooling. I would have to depend greatly on my mother and probably have (3) dead end jobs. All in all, not having a baby would be the best until I know that I am not only physically ready, but also mentally.   –Teen, age 13
